Meet only in public
Choose a busy café, restaurant, food court, or another established public venue. Avoid private homes, hotel rooms, isolated outdoor areas, and last-minute venue changes that move the meeting away from other people. Arrange your own transport so you can leave without relying on your companion.
Tell someone you trust
Before leaving, tell a friend or family member who you are meeting, where you are going, and when you expect to return. Share the public request details and agree on a check-in time. If the plan changes, update that person rather than disappearing from the agreed location.
Do not send money
ShareMyFood is for finding company, not for payments, loans, investments, donations, or ticket purchases. Do not transfer money, share banking credentials, reveal one-time passcodes, or pay a stranger in advance. Settle only your own food or drink directly with the venue.
Leave if you feel uncomfortable
You do not owe anyone an explanation for ending a meeting. If the person pressures you, ignores boundaries, behaves aggressively, or makes the situation feel unsafe, move toward staff or other people and leave. Trust your judgment even when you cannot identify one specific reason for concern.
Block unwanted future contact
After a match, the request creator can block the confirmed companion from the request or dashboard. Blocking prevents future signed-in matching and removes private contact visibility inside ShareMyFood. It cannot erase a number that somebody already saw, so use your device’s blocking tools as well when necessary.
Identity is not verified
ShareMyFood does not check government identification, employment, background, age, or the accuracy of a participant’s profile name. Treat every new companion as someone you do not yet know. Never use a profile or matched status as proof that a person is safe or trustworthy.
Emergency or immediate danger
Leave the location, move toward venue staff or a populated area, and contact the appropriate local emergency service if you or someone else is in immediate danger. ShareMyFood stores reports for later review but does not monitor meetings and cannot provide emergency response.
Check before you leave
Confirm the venue through an independent source, keep your phone charged, arrange your own route home, and carry only what you need. Keep control of your belongings, food, and drink during the meeting, and make sure someone you trust knows your plan.
